Meet Our Team

Beverly Smith, Founder

Beverly Smith is the founder of The King’s Table Schoolhouse and is serving as President and Executive Director for the organization. She is the mother of 5; 4 daughters and 1 son with intellectual disabilities.

Her passion for learning led her to get a degree in elementary education, homeschool for more than 17 years, and pursue her dream of starting a school. Some of her favorite things to do are reading, gardening, paddle boarding, ballroom dancing, and spending time with family and friends. Beverly feels most alive when she is learning something new or teaching.

Heidi Short, am teacher assistant

Heidi Short serves on the TKTS team as the AM teacher’s aide. She holds a degree in Elementary Education with a minor in French and brings valuable experience from her work in Youth & Children’s Ministries, substitute teaching, and serving as an assistant teacher at a local Christian preschool.  Heidi is a devoted wife and mother of four children.

Passionate about helping children grow in both knowledge and faith, Heidi looks forward to encouraging TKTS students as they discover who they are in Christ and learn that God has a unique purpose for their lives. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, singing, and spending time with family and friends.

Katherine Beatty
Special Education Teacher

Born and raised in Mechanicsburg, Katherine brings both hometown roots and a wealth of experience to our school community. After graduating high school as a homeschooler, she went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Special Education from Eastern University, and later completed her Master’s in Reading Education—equipping her with both knowledge and passion to meet students where they are.

Katherine’s heart beats for helping every child discover their God-given potential. She believes that all students can learn—no matter how their brains work—and she delights in finding creative, personalized ways to make learning come alive.

Outside the classroom, Katherine stays active in her church community, attending services twice a week and a weekly Bible study. She loves spending time with her family and friends, enjoying movie nights and game nights, and going on adventures with her dog, Pippin.
